Why Think Snow?
While you’re squeezing that last bit of summer fun out of August, don’t forget that it’s a good time to work with your property manager to start soliciting snow removal proposals and bids. When you begin this process in late summer or early fall, you and your property manager can work together to:
- Ensure Timely Planning: Secure agreements now and avoid last-minute rushes when snow begins to fall.
- Manage Costs Effectively: Early engagement helps to lock in competitive rates and budget accurately, avoiding potential premium rates due to high demand.
- Select Reliable Contractors: You’ll have more time to thoroughly vet contractors and negotiate detailed contracts, ensuring quality and reliability.
- Communicate with Residents: Early planning allows for informing residents about the snow removal strategy and managing expectations.
- Prepare for Contingencies: You’ll have time to establish contingency plans in case of any issues with the chosen contractor.
Starting early also enables your property manager to prepare a bid comparison sheet and lock in agreements before any snow events, ideally before October. Are you satisfied with the current vendor? Then you and your property manager might only need an updated proposal for the season. And if your property is already under contract, it’s even easier—your property manager will contact the vendor to ensure everything is set and ready to go.
