Consistency and Your Summer Yard
Almost every managed community has rules about lawns and yard landscaping in order to make sure that the entire community has a pleasantly uniform appearance. This reflects positively on property values in the long term.
Some HOAs even provide landscaping services for their residents to ensure yards, trees, and bushes do not grow out of control. Others require homeowners themselves to keep their yards to a certain standard. These rules can range from weed control in a yard to the height of bushes and shrubs, and these rules tend to get a lot of attention during the summer, a traditional time for gardening, growth, and outdoor activities.
If you’re a homeowner responsible for maintaining the appearance of your yard, keep in mind that consistency is key. Regularly mowing, watering, and fertilizing your lawn helps promote healthy grass, making it less susceptible to weeds. Trees, brushes, and shrubs need regular attention too; watering and fertilizing on a set schedule keeps them healthy and lets you spot trouble or when it’s time to trim. This lets you address it early enough so that it doesn’t become a larger problem.
Understand your HOA’s guidelines regarding lawn watering as well as any local rules and similar water use. Then be sure that mowing doesn’t cut more than one-third of the grass’s height – cutting a lawn too short will leave it more susceptible to drying out.
A well-maintained yard requires consistent attention and maintenance, and the benefit is that the more regular the work is, the less it will be needed! Addressing problems like weeds or overgrowth early will give your property an overall neat and appealing appearance, and that contributes to the value of the entire community.
